Friends of Magdalen Green

We are pleased to announce the return of our renowned soup and pudding lunch this Saturday, 26th February, 11.30am to 1.30pm, at Meadowside St. Paul’s (side entrance).Tickets are £5, from any committee member or pay at the door. We have our craft and home baking stalls, as always, and our most exciting raffle ever! Prizes include a £50 voucher from Milas, and Deluxe Afternoon Tea for two at Mary’s Kitchen, to name just two. Come along and get your raffle tickets early!

We will also hold our AGM at 1.45pm, entry free.

Background

Friends of Magdalen Green was formed to protect and enhance Magdalen Green, Dundee.  It arose from local concerns that this lovely parkland was being damaged by car parking, vandalism and litter and also that its facilities were being underused.  The association was formally constituted by a large group of local residents at a public meeting in Dundee on 16 May 2007.  Local councillors, Dundee City Council and the West End community have all been very supportive in helping to establish FoMG, and in backing our campaign issues. 

Aims and Objectives   

• to promote the preservation, maintenance and improvement of Magdalen Green for the benefit of the public by associating the local authorities and other stakeholders in a common effort to provide such facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time-occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for those who use the Green;

• to promote the conservation of the environment, plant, animal and bird life of the Green;
• advance the education of the public in the history and natural history of the Green

We are a small charity, run by volunteers and overseen by OSCR. Our

charity registration is SCO 39603.

Many thanks to the City Council for installing our information board beside the bandstand.

Our thanks as ever to all who contributed to the fundraising, and made the lovely day when Pat Orr cut the ribbon on the newly renovated bandstand possible.
